REVIEW
- Bull & Gate: 7th
September 2002 review
"I've heard good
things about the next
band The
Beale
and they certainly seem
to have a lot of fans
here tonight. Without me
noticing, five random
figures have clambered
onto a pitch black stage,
to the backdrop of some
weird family super-8 from
the 1970s. Without
warning they launch into
their first number which
is kind of Fat
Truckers
crossed with Ikara
Colt,
only when I look up the
singer has wrapped a
bandage around his face
and is standing aloft
holding above his head
what appears to be a red
rear bicycle lamp. The
Beale perform
5 more songs in the same
vein and generally get an
enthusiastic reaction
(although they seem to be
oblivious to this). I
time their set at no more
than 15 minutes, after
which they casually
stroll off stage amid
loud shouts for more -
"always keep 'em
wanting more". Is
this The
Beale's
philosophy? - works for
me!" |
