All these
times were achieved using
a steel race frame,
before the advantages
gained through the use of
tri-bars, aero-helmets,
skin suits, clipless
pedals, disc-wheels and
carbon-fibre frames.
Modern cycling equipment
can give time gains of
over 5 minutes in a 25
mile (40km) time trial. Source1 - Source2 |
I rode to
most events on the morning
(carrying my race wheels
seperately on the bike), and rode
back home afterwards. For my best
50 miles time (1 hr 50 mins 6
secs) I rode the 30 miles up to
Wetherby for the start, rode the
event, and rode home again. For
my first 12 hour event I rode
82" fixed gear and covered
nearly 248 miles. Most of my
rides were done on local courses.
